A service is only worth paying for if the checks that matter are actually carried out. Our £70 full strip-down service includes:
- A full strip-down, with the casing removed so the burner, heat exchanger and injectors can be inspected and cleaned where the manufacturer requires
- Combustion analysis using a calibrated flue gas analyser
- Gas rate and operating pressure checks against the manufacturer's figures
- Gas tightness and safety device checks
- A full operating cycle test on heating and hot water
- A digital service report summarising everything we found
What affects the price of a boiler service
The type of boiler
Most modern combi boilers are straightforward to service. Older boilers, or systems with a hot water cylinder, can take longer to work through - and if the cylinder itself needs attention, that is quoted as a separate service.
The condition of the boiler and system
A boiler that has been regularly serviced usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour. A system that has been neglected, is losing pressure or is struggling with debris can take considerably longer, because each symptom has to be traced to its cause.
The depth of the service
This is where quotes differ most between companies. A genuine strip-down with combustion analysis is a different job from a five-minute glance at the boiler, and it is priced accordingly.
Why very cheap services are worth a second look
A boiler service advertised at a token price is rarely a full strip-down. If the casing never comes off and no analyser is used, the checks that matter - combustion, gas rate and the safety devices - have not happened. It is always worth asking exactly what is included before you book.
Other prices worth knowing
If a service uncovers a fault, repairs are quoted separately and agreed with you before any parts are fitted. Our boiler repair charge is £85, which includes the call-out, the diagnosis and the first hour of labour. For landlords, a CP12 gas safety certificate costs £75 when a full boiler service is carried out at the same visit. Gas fire servicing is £65 on its own, or £55 alongside a boiler service.
All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, and pricing is always agreed with you before work starts.
